Trail Pros/ SXCS is Chartered and Sanctioned by the American Motorcyclist Association. Along with our supplemental rules below we also follow AMA rules and guidelines. You can view the AMA Rule Book HERE.
SPECIAL NOTES & SUPPLEMENTAL RULES FOR THE
SPRINT CROSS COUNTRY SERIES
- Registration Online: You can register online HERE for Cross Country and GP formats. Sprint Enduro registration is per US Sprint Enduro sign up HERE for the Sprint Enduro format.
- Registration At The Track: The registration trailer will be open at 7am on race days. We usually have certain hours that sign up is open at the track prior to race day – check for those details on our Upcoming Event page or event flyer. Bring your helmet and AMA card to sign up. All minors must be accompanied by their parent or legal guardian.
- Transponders: We will be using Moto-Tally transponders. If you need one they are $10 and can be purchased at registration.
Special Considerations for Co-Sanctioned US Sprint Enduro Races
If you ran an age class in SXCS that doesn’t have an A/B or C designation yet US Sprint Enduro has these types of classes, the results for SXCS will be combined per time.

We follow AMA Rules and have series supplemental rules
⚡NEW FOR 2024 – ELECTRIC MOTORCYCLES WILL BE PERMITTED TO RACE IN DESIGNATED CLASSES:
We have added OPEN ELECTRIC TO OUR LINEUP. Per AMA Rules Electric Motorcycles can only compete in a dedicated E-class.
- Previewing the course: You are permitted to “WALK” the course or “Ride Your Bicycle” – Pedal Assist are acceptable however bicycles with throttles are NOT permitted. At no time should you be on the course on a motorcycle/pit bike or atv. Always be aware of our volunteers/workers on the course as well as if the course is LIVE with a trail ride or clinic.
- Riders Meeting: There will be a riders meeting at the starting area of each race start ie; Micros, Youth, Morning and Afternoon – Engines must be off during the riders meeting. *It is your responsibility to attend.
- Announcements: We usually have a radio station available for our racers and participants so they can keep track of an announcements – it should be posted at the registration trailer.
- Start Procedures: The start for our GP and Cross Country will be a “Dead Engine” start – Note for the 4-6 50cc micro class a pit crew member may start the bike. The Start for Sprint Cross is “Live Engine”
- The rider must assume all responsibilities for his or her actions during the event. They are also participating at their own risk. It is your responsibility to inspect the track/course before you race. Medical insurance is the sole responsibility of the competitor. The facility, those that are promoting and organizing this event as well as all volunteers are not liable for any injuries or damages.
- All riders must wear a DOT-approved helmet, shatter proof eye protection, long sleeve shirt, full length protective pants and shin-high boots. This is for the rider’s safety–anything less, unless approved by the race referee, the rider will not be able to compete. (Open Faced Helmets are Not Permitted)
- It is the rider’s responsibility to make sure that their bike is in safe condition. There should be no sharp edges or parts protruding in any way that may cause harm to them or another rider. Your bike should have a working kill switch.
Safety is an important consideration in racing; common sense is a governing factor. - Reckless Riding, No rider may ride in such a manner as to endanger life or limb of other riders, officials or the public. Riders will be penalized for the reckless operation of their machine, including but not limited to the deliberate ramming, blocking or intentional contact with another rider, or for running into an official.
- Riders may not carry gasoline anywhere except inside the machine’s fuel tank. Aftermarket fuel tanks are permitted; Auxiliary/Extension fuel tanks are not permitted.
- All machines must have silencers, sound level cannot exceed 98 dB/A.
- No horns, bells or other sound devices are permitted on machines.
- All machines must have a working kill switch.
- Paddle tires and studded tires are prohibited!
- When approaching a slower rider let them know you are there so they can move over and let you pass. Do not expect them to move over right away. Always pass with caution.
- If you see an injured rider, see if you can help. Report it to the closest course marshal.
- If you break down on the trail, try to get yourself and the motorcycle off of the trail thus avoiding any problems with other riders.
- If you miss a turn or feel that you are lost, look behind you before stopping and turning around. Other riders may have missed the turn also and might be coming at you. Never ride backwards on the course. Follow track/course marker arrows.
- The rider is responsible for the actions of their pit crew.
- There are no spectators allowed on the track.
- All pets are to be on a leash and absolutely not on the track.
- Wristbands are to worn at all times and will be checked at registration.
- Marking, cutting, tampering with or otherwise changing the course in any manner is strictly prohibited. Course modifications may only be made by an official.
- No one, except officials and riders officially entered in the race, may ride on the race course at any time during the event.
- Riders must remain on the marked course. The marked course is within 25 feet of race arrows. However, riders must stay within the confines of the following markers.
- If a rider leaves the course for any reason they must re-enter where they left the course.
- Radios are not permitted with or between riders. Horns, bells or other sound mechanisms are not to be used on the course.
- The bike you start the race on is the bike you must finish on – you can NOT change bikes. For GP you must ride the same bike you rode in Moto 1. For Sprint Cross you must ride the same bike for all tests. For Cross Country you must finish on the same bike you started with. If you switch bikes it is grounds for Disqualification.
- DNS – Results will show a DNS if you did finish the first lap.
- DNF – Results will show a DNF if a rider completed at least 1 lap but did not complete at least ½ the laps of the leader rounded down.
- Once results have been posted at the scoring trailer you will have 30 minutes to file a protest.
- There are no Refunds
KNOW THE FLAGS
It’s an important part of racing – understanding and familiarizing yourself with the flags and their meanings can make a huge difference in your race day…
- GREEN: Indicates the start of the race.
- BLUE on the start: Quiet Engines
- YELLOW Flag also known as CAUTION Flag: When a yellow flag is displayed, competitors must ride cautiously until they have passed the incident that caused the flag. In motocross, when a yellow flag is displayed there is no passing or jumping between the flag and the incident that caused the yellow flag. Failure to do so may result in the rider being docked from one finishing position all the way to disqualification from the event subject to the referee’s discretion.
- WHITE: Indicates to the riders there is one lap to go until the finish.
- Black Flag: Indicates the disqualification of a rider. That rider must report to the referee at once.
- WHITE WITH RED CROSS Flag: Indicates that ambulances, safety vehicles or emergency personnel are on the course and riders must exercise extreme caution. Should this flag be displayed, riders should slow down; maintain position with no passing or jumping until past the incident.
- RED Flag: Indicates the stopping of a race for any emergency situation.
- BLACK AND WHITE CHECKERED: Indicates the end of race… CONGRATS!
